Bharti Airtel shines as Carlyle to acquire 25% stake in its data centre business

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 569.40, up by 9.75 points or 1.74% from its previous closing of Rs. 559.65 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 574.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 574.00 and Rs. 568.00 respectively.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 611.70 on 20-May-2020 and a 52 week low of Rs. 321.60 on 01-Aug-2019.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 576.95 and Rs. 550.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 305320.27 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 58.98%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 36.12% and 4.91% respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Comfort Investments II, an affiliated entity of CAP V Mauritius, an investment fund managed and advised by affiliated entities of The Carlyle Group (together Carlyle), have entered into an agreement under which Comfort Investments II will invest $235 million in Nxtra Data, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel engaged in the data centre business.

The post-money enterprise valuation of Nxtra is approximately $1.2 billion and Carlyle will hold a stake of approximately 25% in the business upon completion of the transaction, with Airtel continuing to hold the remaining stake of approximately 75%. The transaction is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, including approval from the Competition Commission of India.
