Telecom stocks tumble as SC reserves order on AGR dues' payment timeline

Stocks related to telecom sector edged lower after the Supreme Court reserved its order on timeline of staggered payment of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) related dues by telecom operators.

Vodafone Idea is currently trading at Rs. 8.44, down by 0.60 points or 6.64% from its previous closing of Rs. 9.04 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 8.99 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 8.99 and Rs. 8.24 respectively.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam is currently trading at Rs. 9.98, down by 0.11 points or 1.09% from its previous closing of Rs. 10.09 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 10.11 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 10.32 and Rs. 9.95 respectively.

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 569.80, down by 5.95 points or 1.03% from its previous closing of Rs. 575.75 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 578.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 583.80 and Rs. 566.90 respectively.

Supreme Court (SC) reserved its order with respect to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) plea for a 20-year staggered payment timeline for the service providers, turning down the telecom companies’ demand for re-assessment of dues linked to adjusted gross revenue (AGR).
