Bond yields trade flat on Thursday

Bond yields traded flat on Thursday, as traders awaited the minutes of the rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee’s latest meeting, due later in the day.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields rose on Wednesday after minutes from the Federal Reserve's July meeting indicated that yield caps or targets were not on the Horizon. Furthermore, Oil prices fell as major producers warned of a risk to the recovery in demand if the coronavirus crisis is prolonged, while U.S. crude inventories dropped less than expected.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading flat with its previous close of 6.00% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 1 basis point lower at 5.22% from its previous close of 5.23% on Wednesday.
