VIP Industries rises on entering ladies handbag category

VIP Industries is currently trading at Rs. 92.15, up by 0.20 points or 0.22% from its previous closing of Rs. 91.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 92.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 92.75 and Rs. 92.00 respectively. So far 40772 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'B' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 192.80 on 17-Oct-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 68.55 on 27-Jul-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 94.10 and Rs. 89.20 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1302.24 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 52.09% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 8.41% and 39.51% respectively.

Luggage major, VIP Industries has entered into the branded ladies handbag category by bringing in an imported brand - Caprese. The company aims to be a major participant in the Rs 2,000 crore segment over the next five years. At present, the company is in talks to distribute the brand in Hong Kong, Singapore and Dubai in addition to launching in the domestic market.

The company will position the product in the mid-premium category with its strength in design, sourcing and retailing. In the long-term, the company aims to raise Caprese’s sales equal to luggage sales since fashion is a larger market than luggage. The company will roll-out the handbags in 100 cities and hawk them at retail outlets, including 400 VIP Lounges.
