Gold futures finished lower on Monday, marking the biggest daily percentage drop in over 7 years as the safe haven investment appeal dulled on the optimistic news that COVID-19 vaccine reported more than 90% effective. Meanwhile, weakness in the dollar index , which held close to an over 10-week low, kept gold above the key $1,900 level.
Gold futures for December delivery settled down at $97.30 or 5% at $1854.40 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold slipped 2.2% to $1,908.55 per ounce.
