Gold futures finished higher on Friday, whetted by the inflation hedge appeal of the bullion after US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin signalled that negotiations on stimulus measures will continue. However, optimism over the developments in the covid-19 vaccine kept the yellow metal in loss for the week around 0.7%, based on the most active contract.
Gold futures for December delivery rose $10.90 or 0.60% to settled at $ 1872.40 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold got buoyed by 0.3% to $1,871.99 per ounce.
