In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), all arrangements are in place for the first phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections to be held tomorrow.
In the first phase voting will take place in 25 constituencies in Kashmir Division and 18 in Jammu Division. The State Election Commissioner K K Sharma said elections are being held in eight phases. A total number of 2,644 polling stations have been set up and there are 7,03,620 electors for this phase. The campaigning for the first phase polls ended on Thursday evening in a peaceful manner.
The State Election Commissioner said that the necessary COVID-19 Protocols have also been put in place for ensuring the forthcoming elections in a safe environment. Voting will take place from 7 AM to 2 PM.
