Former Bihar Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha (RS) on today. He has been elected from the seat which was lying vacant since the demise of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) patriarch Ram Vilas Paswan. Sushil Modi was named as the BJP candidate for the by-election to the Rajya Sabha seat from Bihar last week.

The election was scheduled to be held on December 14 but since the Opposition decided to not contest the Rajya Sabha seat, Sushil Kumar Modi was elected unopposed.
