Bharti Airtel shines on introducing 4G services in Pune

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 266.95, up by 1.05 points or 0.39% from its previous closing of Rs. 265.90 on the NSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 263.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 267.50 and Rs. 261.20 respectively. So far 32, 84,018 shares were traded on the counter.

The NSE stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 412.00 on 16-Nov-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 215.80 on 05-Oct-2012.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.50% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.91% and 6.60% respectively.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa has launched its fourth generation (4G) broadband services in Pune. This is the third city after Kolkata and Bangalore where the 4G services have been introduced.

4G technology allows customers to access high speed broadband services. But the cost is on the higher side. The dongle for accessing 4G services on laptops and PCs is priced at Rs 4,999. In addition, there are monthly usage charges.

The entity is also planning to launch a mobile phone in the next few weeks that will be compatible to the new 4G network. But the network rollout by operators is being done in clusters and therefore not conducive for full mobility
