Copper futures finish lower on strong US dollar

28 Jan 2021 Evaluate

Copper futures finished lower on Wednesday, driven by stronger US dollar that makes dollar-priced metals more expensive for holders of other currencies. Further, anxiety over a third wave of corona virus infections too added pressure on copper prices.

Copper futures for March delivery lost $0.0620 to settle at $3.5575 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 2.29% at $7,825.00 a ton.
