Copper futures finish lower as dollar strengthens

30 Jan 2021 Evaluate

Copper futures ended lower on Friday as strengthening US dollar against key rivals made dollar-priced metals more expensive for holders of other currencies. Profit booking following concerns over demand from world’s top consumer China too added further pressure on copper prices, though low inventories helped limit losses.

Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.0220 to settle at $3.5560 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 0.22% at $7,856 a ton.
