Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Monday tracking rally in the domestic equities on the back of favorable global cues. Further, healthy foreign fund inflows too kept the sentiments positive. Foreign Institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,461.71 Crore in the Indian equity market on Friday, exchange data showed. On the global front, the US dollar nursed losses against most currencies as disappointing US jobs data forced some investors to scale back bets on any further rebound in the greenback.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 72.86, stronger by 7 paise from its previous close of 72.93 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 72.8650 and 72.8000 respectively. The reference rate for the dollar stood at 72.89, and for Euro stood 87.19 on February 05, 2021. While the reference rate for the Yen stood at 69.07, the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 99.72.
