Copper futures end higher on weak dollar

20 Feb 2021 Evaluate

Copper futures ended higher on Friday as a weak dollar against its major peers boosted the appeal of greenback-priced copper. Moreover, demand for base metals continued to rise further after the world’s top metals consumer China returned from a week-long Lunar New Year holiday, while tight supplies has also supported demand growth.

Copper futures for March delivery gained $0.1730 to settle at $4.0740 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up 4.17% at $8,909.50 a ton.
