Shipping Corporation of India trades jubilantly as govt receives multiple bids for privatisation

Shipping Corporation of India is currently trading at Rs. 119.20, up by 15.50 points or 14.95% from its previous closing of Rs. 103.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 117.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 123.55 and Rs. 116.00 respectively. So far 1755151 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 107.70 on 01-Mar-2021 and a 52 week low of Rs. 31.65 on 24-Mar-2020.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 123.55 and Rs. 96.95 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 5577.94 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.75%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 14.69% and 21.56% respectively.

The government has received multiple bids for privatisation of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI). DIPAM in December had invited expressions of interest (EoI) for strategic disinvestment of its entire stake of 63.75 per cent in Shipping Corp of India, along with the transfer of management. The last date for submitting the bids was February 13, which was later extended to March 1.

SCI is the only Indian shipping company operating break-bulk service, international container service, liquid / dry bulk service, offshore service, passenger service, in addition to manning / managing a large number of vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.
