Rupee weakens against US dollar on Tuesday

16 Mar 2021 Evaluate
Indian rupee marginally weakens against the US dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by the domestic and Foreign institutional investor’s selling off in the equities as part of booking prevailing profits. The green back got appreciated in the cautious session ahead to the key central bank meeting this week. The American currency is advancing despite a retreat in US benchmark yields from the highest levels in more than a year ahead of the Fed meeting.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 72.5050, weaker by 4 paise from its previous close of 72.4650 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 72.5050 and 72.3700 respectively. The reference rate for the dollar stood at 72.68, and for Euro stood 86.88 on March 12, 2021. While the reference rate for the Yen stood at 66.77, the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 101.47.
