Copper futures settled lower on Wednesday, driven by strong US dollar with fears that extended lockdowns in Europe would delay a global economic revival. Further, potential US tax hikes and worries over Sino-US tensions also sapped investor’s risk appetite.
Copper futures for May delivery lost $0.0155 to settle at $4.0640 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 0.03% at $8,977.50 a ton.
