Gold futures finished lower on Wednesday on better than expected economic numbers from China and the United States. The yellow metal weighed down as its safe haven investment got dulled after International Monetary Fund raised its outlook for global economic growth again on Tuesday, forecasting worldwide output would rise 6% this year, a rate not seen since the 1970s. The bullion had registered its fourth consecutive gain in the previous session, the longest such streak in about two months.
Gold futures for June settled 0.1% lower at $1,741.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold fell 0.4% to $1,737.01 per ounce
