Gold futures finished lower for a third session in a row on Thursday, weighed down by the strength in US benchmark Treasury yield notes with the unexpectedly strong US economic data. The bond yields peaked to more than a two-week high during the session on US President Joe Biden's proposal of trillions of dollars in new spending and as US economic growth accelerated in the first quarter. First-quarter US GDP rose at 6.4% rate.
Gold futures for June slipped by 0.3% or $5.6 at $1,768.30 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold was down 0.7% to $1,768.26 per ounce.
