Asian Markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Wednesday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks traded lower in early deals on Wednesday, in a choppy trade as the market grew cautious ahead to the release of US Consumer Index figures for April and as investors digested yesterday's Federal budget 2021. Tensions over spreading inflation pressure globally intensified after China’s factory-gate prices jumped by the most in 3½ years in April, driven by surging commodities prices. Bearish trend caught Asian equities after US contracts slipped after the S&P 500 continued its drop from a record high Friday and as dip buyers helped the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 erase a loss of almost 2% to finish little changed. Technological and financial shares are in huge sell-off, while oil shares also lost with the negative crude oil overnight. Gold miners advanced in the session caught up with the rise in gold prices. Japan’s Nikkei tumbled in the trade paring its early session losses , as the market sentiments dulled following reports that the number of COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms in Japan rose to a record 1,176.Nikkei touched a high of 28,831.03 and hit a low of 28,329.01 in early trade. Elsewhere, Taiwan lost the most in the session, marking a sharpest loss of about 8.6% in the session, led by steep losses in semiconductors and amid a diplomatic spat with China and further Covid-19 curbs. Stock market in Indonesia is closed for Eid al-Fitr. Among the Asian markets, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, and China are in negative note. On the flip side, Malaysia is trading higher.

Nikkei 225 down by 611.32 points or 2.14% to 27,997.27, Straits Times dipped 19.88 points or 0.63% to 3,124.39, Hang Seng narrowed by 103.21 points or 0.37% to 27,910.60, Taiwan Weighted curtailed 942.25 points or 5.68% to 15,640.88, KOSPI shrunk 69.39 points or 2.16% to 3,140.04 and Shanghai Composite slipped by 0.43 points or 0.01% to 3,441.42.

Bucking the trend, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI rose by 4.88 points 0.31% to 1,582.52.
