Copper futures end lower on strong dollar

14 May 2021 Evaluate

Copper futures ended lower on Thursday as strong US dollar makes dollar-priced metals more expensive for overseas buyers. Further, bigger-than-expected rise in US consumer prices and worries over an increase in inflationary pressure have also brought down copper prices to a certain extent.

Copper futures for July delivery fell $0.0455 to settle at $4.6905 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 0.99% at $10,342 a ton.
