Haryana procures over 37.89 lakh metric tonnes of paddy

During the current kharif marketing season more than 37.89 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in various mandis across the Haryana state. Over 78,161 metric tonnes of paddy had arrived on November 03, 2012, which included 62,602 metric tonnes of leviable paddy and 15,559 metric tonnes of non-leviable paddy. The arrival of paddy in the mandis is fast picking up this marketing season as around 31.35 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived during the corresponding period last year.

The district of Kurukshetra has received maximum quantity of paddy, which is over 8.44 lakh metric tonnes. Similarly, district Karnal received over 7.80 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, district Kaithal over 5.82 lakh metric tonnes, while district Fatehabad, Ambala and Yamunanagar have received over 4.91 lakh metric tonnes, 3.96 lakh metric tonnes and 2.71 lakh metric tonnes, respectively.

Besides, out of the total arrival of 37.89 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, six government agencies have procured 33.93 lakh metric tonnes of paddy while the remaining has been procured by millers. Of the government agencies, the Food Corporation of India has also procured 1515 metric tonnes of paddy.

Moreover, Food and Supplies Department have procured over 13.64 lakh metric tonnes whereas HAFED has purchased 10.38 lakh metric tonnes and Haryana Agro Industries Corporation purchased over 5.20 lakh metric tonnes. Also, Haryana Warehousing Corporation and CONFED purchased 2.66 lakh metric tonnes and 2.02 lakh metric tonnes of paddy respectively.
