The Calcutta High Court (HC) today dismissed the West Bengal (WB) government's plea for recalling its order that directed the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to examine all cases of alleged human rights violations in post-poll violence within the state. The five-judge bench, includes performing chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and justices IP Mukerji, Harish Tandon, Soumen Sen and Subrata Talukdar of the high court dismissed the prayer of the WB government for recalling the order handed in respect of a bunch of PILs alleging displacement of individuals from their residences, bodily assault, destruction of property and ransacking of locations of enterprise owing to post- ballot violence in the state. The bench had in its order directed the chairperson of the NHRC to constitute a committee to look at this matter.
