Asian Markets trade mixed in early deals on Thursday

Asian equity benchmarks traded mixed in early deals on Thursday, in a muted trade as the participants side-lined amid caution with the recent volatility in the market. Technological shares are mostly higher amid position taking of tech sector stocks in Wall Street. Oil stocks are lower though crude oil rates rose overnight. Among the Asian markets, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea are in positive territory. Bucking the trend, Japan, Indonesia, China and Malaysia traded lower.

Straits Times rose 7.79 points or 0.25% to 3,126.41, Hang Seng higher by 21.89 points or 0.08% to 28,838.96, KOSPI lifted 11.59 points or 0.35% to 3,287.78, and Taiwan Weighted supported by 67.55 points or 0.39% to 17,404.26.

On the flip side, Nikkei 225 down by 26.25 points or 0.09% to 28,848.64, Jakarta Composite dipped by 19.50 points 0.32% to 6,015.04, Shanghai Composite lower by 5.21 points or 0.15% to 3,561.01 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI slipped by 6.31 points 0.40% to 1,558.45.
