Gadkari continues as BJP chief amid allegations of corruption

Amidst allegations about corruption, Nitin Gadkari  still continues to be the President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and top senior leaders like LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley provides support to him. The situation however, turned more agitating on Monday after a statement where he was alleged to have compared Swami Vivekanand's IQ with that of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. 

Allegations has been raised regarding the use of his political position for his own business interests,  floated shell companies with fictitious addresses to justify wrong accounting entries and also on misusing his position as the PWD minister of Maharasthra and awarded many contracts to IRB Infrastructure. Gadkari's firm Purti Group has also been in the line of fire for alleged irregularities.

However, the father-son duo of Ram Jethmalani and Mahesh Jethmalani have hit out against Gadkari and demanded that he should resign immediately till an investigation into the alleged corruption cases are over. Moreover, BJP spokesperson Balbir Punj, who is a link between the party and the RSS, warned that the leaders should refrain from airing their differences in front of the media, and pointed that the internal problems has to be kept within the party itself rather than discussing it in the public forums.
