Asian markets settled higher on Thursday amid gains in wall street overnight following robust US corporate earnings with renewed optimism about the US economic recovery. Seoul shares gained with expectations for robust second-quarter earnings. Chinese shares ended higher as foreign investors extended net buying of A-shares via the Stock Connect scheme into a fourth consecutive day. However, worries over surge in Covid-19 cases across the world capped further market gains. Meanwhile, Japanese markets were closed for a long weekend ahead of the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics games.
