Basavaraj Bommai takes oath as CM of Karnataka

Basavaraj Bommai today took oath as the new Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka. He was sworn in by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including former CM B.S. Yediyurappa, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh at the Raj Bhavan.

He earlier was Minister for Home Affairs, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislature in the Fourth Yediyurappa ministry which was dissolved on last Monday. Bommai is a three-time MLA from Shiggaon constituency and has been MLC twice. Karnataka BJP legislature party was held yesterday evening elected Basavaraj Bommai as its new leader.
