The Asian markets made an all red start with some of the indices trading lower by over half a percent on European worries amid concern Greece’s bailout may be delayed. South Korea’s Kospi Index plunged by over half a percent in early trade as the nation’s central bank kept its key interest rate unchanged. South Korea’s first increase in four months in exports in October signaled the economy may be recovering just as the nation readies for a Presidential election. Bank of Korea said that though domestic economic activity has continued on a weak growth path since the second quarter of this year, but the slowdown has recently appeared to be easing. Chinese market has cut some losses on report that consumer prices were up only 1.7 percent in October from a year ago, compared with an increase of 1.9 percent in September. Also, Inflation slowed further in China last month.
Shanghai Composite declined by 0.28 points or 0.01% to 2,071.23, Hang Seng lost 58.83 points or 0.27% to 21,508.08, Jakarta Composite lost 7.19 points or 0.17% to 4,320.10, KLSE Composite was down by 2.45 points or 0.15% to 1,638.62, Nikkei 225 lost 83.10 points or 0.94% to 8,754.05, Straits Times lost 2.50 points or 0.07% to 3,010.01 and Kospi Composite declined by 13.96 points or 0.73% to 1,900.26
Taiwan Weighted has recovered from its early losses and was the lone gainer in the pack, up by 22.06 points or 0.30% to 7,264.58.
