Asian Markets trade mostly lower in early deals on Thursday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks traded lower in early deals on Thursday, with the cautious trade ahead to the US monthly employment numbers on Friday, which might influence Federal Reserve’s timeline for curtailing bond buying. Moreover, continued acceleration of covid 19 delta cases and restrained economic activity with the restriction to contain it spurred uncertainty over pace of global economic rebound, dulled the market sentiments. Technological stocks are trading mixed, while banking stocks are mostly in negative trend. Oil stocks are mixed though crude oil gained overnight. Kospi of South Korea faced the sharpest correction with the profit booking after four straight sessional gains. Japan’s Nikkei extended its previous sessional gains followed by uptick in domestic factory activity for the seventh straight month in August. However, gains remained capped as nervousness spurred with the country posting 20031 new infections on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 1.5 million cases. Meanwhile, Wall Street slipped overnight, with Nasdaq sharply higher, while the Dow lower and S&P 500 higher. Major European markets advanced in the session. Among the Asian stocks, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia and Malaysia are trading lower. Bucking the trend, Japan, Hong Kong, and China are in upward trend.

Straight times down by 9.42 points or 0.31% to 3,078.42, Jakarta Composite lower by 16.70 points 0.27% to 6,074.23, Taiwan Weighted dipped by 89.00 points or 0.51% to 17,384.99, KOSPI curtailed by 32.05 points or 1.00% to 3,174.97, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI slipped by $ 3.65 points or 0.23% to 1,583.24.

On the flip side, Nikkei 225 up by 73.29 points or 0.26% to 28,524.31, Hang Seng lifted by 19.66 points or 0.08% to 26,047.95, Shanghai Composite increased 19.55 points or 0.55% to 3,586.65.
