Copper futures ended lower on Thursday after the China’s state planner announced that it will observe the market conditions and continue to release copper from its state reserves to bridge the gap between supply and demand of the metal. Moreover, a firmer US dollar also made dollar-priced commodities more expensive for buyers using other currencies.
Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.1250 to settle at $4.2815 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 2.17 percent at $9,366.50 a ton.
