Copper futures ended lower on Tuesday as the US dollar strengthened tracking a rise in bond yields after the US Federal Reserve hinted that it may soon taper its asset purchasing program. Further, concerns about the impact of power cuts in world’s top metals consumer China also weighed on copper prices.

Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.0430 to settle at $4.2465 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 0.99 percent at $9,269 a ton.
