Copper futures end lower on Wednesday

30 Sep 2021 Evaluate

Copper futures ended lower on Wednesday as the red metal prices dipped for the second day due to worries over the widening power shortages in world’s top metal consumer China. The power supply crisis raised the doubt on the demand outlook and dampened manufacturing of the metal. Further, a stronger US dollar also made dollar-priced commodities more expensive for buyers using other currencies.

Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.0475 to settle at $4.1990 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 1.23 percent at $9155.00 a ton.
