Copper futures ended higher on Wednesday due to worries over tightening supplies in the world’s top metal consumer China. However, gains were capped by surging energy prices and inflation worries that stoked bets that the US central bank might need to move faster to normalise policy than officials had projected.
Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.1905 to settle at $4.5160 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up 1.97 percent at $9,651 a ton.
