Asian Markets trade mostly higher in early deals on Thursday

Most of the Asian equity benchmarks traded higher in early deals on Thursday, with the hefty position taking in technological stocks counting positive trend in global markets. Short covering in many sectors also boosted investments. Banking stocks are in mixed trend, while technological shares are in green. Oil stocks eased after crude oil ended lower overnight. Japan’s Nikkei is modestly higher with the optimism that the country’s domestic covid cases shrunk by 98% compared to previous month. Meanwhile, the major European markets moved positive in the day. Hong Kong market is closed on account of National Day. Among the Asian stocks, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan and China are trading higher. Bucking the trend, Malaysia is in negative territory.

Nikkei 225 up by 336.77 points or 1.20% to 28,477.05, Straight times rose by 10.98 points or 0.35% to 3,167.40, Jakarta Composite is lifted by 68.10 points or 1.04% to 6,605.00, KOSPI buoyed by 29.54 points or 1.00% to 2,973.95 Taiwan Weighted lifted by 70.66 points or 0.43% to 16,418.65, and Shanghai Composite jumped by 5.38 points or 0.15% to 3,567.14.

On the flip side, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI down by 8.84 points or 0.55% to 1,591.54.
