Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Monday as the US dollar strengthened against its key rivals overseas. Further, worries over intensifying energy crisis along with growing inflation globally also kept the sentiments under pressure. Meanwhile, investors are awaiting sooner-than-expected tightening of monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve. The Indian stock markets were closed for trading on October 15, 2021 on account of Dussehra. However, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 1,681.60 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net sellers to the tune of Rs 1,750.59 crore on October 14 in the Indian equity market, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 75.34, weaker by 8 paise from its previous close of 75.26 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 75.3875 and 75.2575 respectively.
