JK Cement has signed a pact with Punjab Renewable Energy Systems (PRESPL) to scale up the use of biomass-based and alternative fuels as a replacement to fossil fuels like coal in its manufacturing operations.
The memorandum of understanding with PRESPL, the country's largest biomass aggregation and densification company, is valid for 10 years and is part of the JK Organisation group firm's endeavour to decarbonise its operations.
JK Cement is one of the largest cement manufacturers in north India. It is also second largest producer of white cement in India. The company exports white cement to countries like South Africa, Nigeria, Singapore, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, UAE and Nepal.
