01 Nov 2021 Evaluate

Bond yields ended flat on Monday after Indian manufacturing activity improved further in the month of October, as companies scaled up production in line with a substantial upturn in new work intakes. Firms stepped up input purchasing amid stock-building efforts and in anticipation of further improvements in demand, while business optimism hit a six-month high.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields were mixed on Friday, with some maturities pulling back from highs, as selling eased amid uncertainty surrounding the timing of the Federal Reserve's first interest rate hike since December 2018 and the number of such increases. Furthermore, oil prices fell after China said it released reserves of gasoline and diesel to boost supply, while investors unwound long positions ahead of an OPEC+ meeting on November 4.

Back home, the yields on new 10-year Government Stock were traded flat with its previous close of 6.38% on Friday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were ended 1 basis point higher at 5.88% from its previous close of 5.86% on Friday.
