Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi has dismissed allegation by former auditor R P Singh that he tried to influence the outcome of the 2G report as an attempt to malign the institutions of CAG and PAC. Joshi also said the Congress's call for probe against CAG was absurd.

However, Joshi said Singh had never raised the issue when he had appeared before PAC to explain the loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer caused by the 2G spectrum allocation. On his fresh allegations, he said the former CAG officer has also not furnished any document to prove his claims.

Moreover, CAG's principal auditor RP Singh made startling revelations about the agency's 2G report saying that it was audited without guidelines and influenced by Public Accounts Committee Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi.
