Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Wednesday, tracking a lacklustre trend in the domestic equity market despite expectations of foreign inflows into a slew of Indian initial public offerings (IPOs). Further firm American currency against its major peers also dampened rupee sentiments. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital market as they offloaded shares worth Rs 2,445.25 crore on Tuesday, as exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 74.14, weaker by 9 paise from its previous close of 74.05 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 74.2000 and 74.0650 respectively.
