Pak breaches ceasefire, targets 10 Indian forward posts

Pakistan troops have violated the ceasefire yet again, targeting 10 Indian forward posts firing over 6000 rounds from heavy weaponry along the Indo-Pak border in Poonch district, ahead of the ninth anniversary of the Indo-Pak ceasefire agreement on November 26.

Earlier on August, 8 Pakistan troops had fired on several Indian posts along Indo-Pak border in Krishnagati sub-sector of Poonch district. Army troops guarding the border with Pakistan gave a calibrated response and fired back effectively adding, there was no casualty or injury to anyone in the firing exchanges. However, due to the Pakistani firing, forest fire along LoC was triggered which the army controlled with the support of locals this morning.

The firings and ceasefire violations by Pakistan began close on the heels of detection of 400-meter long tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba sector on July 28 and subsequent lodging of strong protest over the tunnel issue on July 31.
