Recently, Onco Therapies, a division of Agila, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Strides Arcolab, received European Union (EU) approval for Oxaliplantin Injection 5mg/ml (10ml, 20ml and 40ml). This is the second European approval out of the 22 filings made by OTL in the year 2010 for products which have a combined market value of over $5 billion. The application for Oxaliplantin 5mg/ml was submitted through a Decentralized Procedure (DCP).
The current approval is from UK and approval for the rest of the European countries is expected shortly. The product will be manufactured at the Oncology complex in Bangalore.
Oxaliplantin is among the 37 drugs licensed to Pfizer on a semi-exclusive basis for sales in 17 European countries.
Earlier in July, Onco Therapies received United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) approval for Gemcitabine for Injection USP in 200mg, 1 gm and 2 gm dosage forms.
