Gold futures finished lower for second straight session on Tuesday, though the yellow metal marked its highest intra-day level since June. Retail sales in the US spiked more than expected last month, weighing down the safe haven appeal of the bullion. A stronger dollar made the precious metal expensive for other currency holders.
Gold futures for December dipped by 0.7% to settle at $1,854.10 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold fell by 0.6% to $1,851.80 per ounce.
