Copper futures ended higher on Friday as the current jobless claims report which close to the level before the corona-virus pandemic boosted the market confidence in US economic recovery. Hopes of rising demand against thin inventories in the world's biggest metal consumer also supported copper prices’ uptrend, but the market still cautious about inflation and potential interest rate rises.
Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.1030 to settle at $4.4075 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up 2.17 percent at $9,646.50 a ton.
