Congress Lok Sabha (LS) MP Rahul Gandhi today gave an adjournment motion notice in LS seeking compensation for the families of farmers who lost their lives during the agitation against farm laws. Earlier, the Central government dismissed the demand stating that it has no record of farmers who lost their lives in the agitation against the farm laws so there is no question of providing compensation.

Rahul Gandhi claimed that around 700 farmers died during the agitation but the Central Government does not have any data. He said that the Congress Government in Punjab has provided financial aid of Rs. 5 lakh to families of farmers who died during the agitation and 152 have been given government jobs. ‘I want that the farmers be given their rights, they should be given compensation as well as jobs,’ he added.

Congress members demanded a statement from the government on the issue and staged a walkout along with NCP and DMK members raising slogans against the government.
