The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released the names of 30 candidates for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
Earlier, the party had announced 10 candidates who are all sitting legislators. This is the second list of candidates announced by the AAP. Former Punjab Police officer Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, who had headed the SIT probing the 2015 Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing cases, is among the list of 30 candidates. Singh had taken voluntary retirement in April this year and later joined the AAP.
Meanwhile, on Monday, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh declared that his party Punjab Lok Congress will contest the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa's party. Punjab Assembly elections will be held on early 2022.
