Fire broke out in Twisting & S4A loom section of the Birla Corporation's Unit at Birla Jute Mills, Birlapur, at about 4.30 am on December 03, 2012, which has been brought under control. The production in other sections of the Mill is continuing normally. The loss on account of the fire is covered under insurance.
Birla Corporation operates four division cement, jute, vinoleum and auto trim. It has eight manufacturing facilities located in Pune, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gurgoan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
