Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday, tracking firm trend in domestic equities and dollar weakness. However, concerns over rapid spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, firm crude prices and continued foreign fund outflows have restricted the up-move. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers in the capital market on Wednesday, as they offloaded shares worth Rs 827.26 crore, exchange data showed. On the global front, US dollar held near an almost one-week low against its major rivals as investors adopted a more optimistic stance about the global economic outlook.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 75.35, stronger by 19 paise from its previous close of 75.54 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 75.4400 and 75.3350 respectively.
