Gold futures traded lower in early deals of Monday, due to some profit taking after Friday’s gain followed by the weaker than expected December jobs report. Moreover, caution ahead to the key December US inflation data also weighed on bullion investments. Inflation reading is key as it might brace Federal Reserve’s decision to hike interest rates quicker than expected.
Gold futures for February were down 0.2% at $1,794.00 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold was unchanged at $1,795.11 per ounce.
