Asian markets ended mostly higher on Monday even as the investors bet the possibility of the faster-than-expected tapering and interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve. While, investors are also eyeing on US inflation data as well as the Fed chairman's hearing in the Senate this week for additional clues about the Fed’s stance about interest rate hikes. Chinese shares gained after the country's Securities Regulatory Commission said it would adopt various measures to avoid volatility and firmly prevent big fluctuations after they had the worst start for a year since 2016, while Hong Kong shares advanced on sustained rebound in technology shares. Meanwhile, Japanese market was closed for a holiday. However, concerns over Omicron Covid-19 variant that continued to spread rapidly across the world adding pressure on market sentiments and capped its gains.
