Gold futures finished tad higher on Monday, kindled by the safe haven bets on lingering concerns over global economic rebound amidst surging viral infections. Moreover, some position taking after the yellow metal finished below key $1800 benchmark for the third straight session also buoyed the investments. Albeit, gains remained trimmed as the focus is on impending US inflation data release.
Gold futures for February were up 0.1% or $1.4 to settle at $1798.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold slipped by 0.2% to $1,799.75 per ounce.
