Congress party decline its involvement in illegal mining in Goa

Goa government has clarified that it is not involved in any illegal mining in the state.The commission headed by Justice M B Shah has began an inquiry into the illegal mining in the state, pegged somewhere between Rs 1,200 crore to Rs 10,000 crore by different agencies.

'Congress party or Congress government is not involved in illegal mining in Goa'. Whether they are small or big, if some person is involved (in illegal mining) then he should be punished,' Goa Pradesh Congress Committee chief Subhash Shirodkar said.

Shirodkar further added that party’s high command will take call if to allot ticket to those who will be indicted by Shah commission. 'Let the report come. It's not for me to decide. The high command will have a copy of the commission report and they will decide,' Shirodkar said. He however, admitted that many Congress ministers and legislators have interests in the mining business.
